WITH EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS : "The only thing in my mind is, I just want to find some money for my mom and for my family" - Mario Maurer, on what pushed him to try acting and showbiz
"Usually I go skateboarding because I skate when I was a kid... I fix old cars like Volkswagen, it’s my hobby, I do it with my friends. I grew up in the City of Bangkok, usually I have many friends in my childhood... I am just only playing skateboard and my dad just told me, why are you playing skateboard, why don’t you play like tennis or golf, they make you more money, but I said no, it’s not fun dad," ang kwento ni Mario.
Katulad ng maraming artista dito sa atin, pinasok din ni Mario ang showbiz para makatulong sa kanyang pamilya. Dati raw ay madalas siyang nasa gas station nila, bilang isang "gas boy".
"My mom has a gas station and the only thing that I do when I was a boy, fill in gas. I’m only running around the gas station, doing everything for the cars, clean the cars, fill the gas, fill the air for the tires."
The hardest struggle that he had to face...
"It should be when my dad passed away... about three years ago... because he had diabetes," ang sabi ni Mario. Nagsisimula pa lang siya sa kanyang career ng mangyari ito. "I am shocked because my career is coming up, just finish my second movie only but luckily he got to watch Love of Siam, I opened it and showed it to him and he said, it’s very good."
And speaking of his controversial movie, ang Love of Siam kung saan una siyang nakilala noong 2007, the Thai superstar revealed that at first, he was hesitant to accept the role. "Because I am hundred percent man, but I think the role of the gay in the movie, is a good way, it’s not something that teaches people to be gay, it’s a normal life of people."
"First, I didn’t want to do it, when I heard that I’m going to be a cast in this movie, I lock the door, my manager come in the house, pretend that I am sick," dagdag pa ni Mario.
What finally convinced him to say yes?
"My friend told me that you should think about your family because your mom work hard a long time, I should… It’s a good opportunity for me so ok, I’ll try."
Pero ang pag-arte raw ay hindi pumasok sa isip niya noong kabataan niya. "I do this Love of Siam, I never learn acting before and I just do it because the only thing in my mind is, I just want to find some money for my mom and for my family, I don’t know what is acting, I just follow what my director told me."
May chance bang ma-in love siya sa isang Filipina? Ano naman ang first impression niya kay Erich Gonzales na magiging leading lady niya, sa movieng gagawin niya dito (and Thailand) ang "Suddenly It's Magic"?
"Filipinas are very beautiful, people here are nice to me... Erich... yesterday, fun and playful, the movie is going to be shot in Bangkok, Thailand and in the Philippines. I know her, she came to Thailand and my friend got to meet her and I heard she’s going to be playing with me, my friend said she is nice and funny."
